The number 1 reason why most people can’t get shredded is because they can’t stick to a strict diet.
The reason they can’t stick to a strict diet is almost always because the diet eventually gets so low in calories that to get ripped they would need to feel like they are starving all day long.
Feeling hungry is not only distracting, but it makes it borderline impossible to stay on track and stick to your calorie allotment for the day.
This article includes 14 products I’ve come to learn over the past half a decade can make dieting a walk in the park.
Sticking to a diet actually isn’t that difficult if your meals are at least somewhat enjoyable, and you can keep your appetite suppressed with some of the following items I recommend.
Without further adieu:
1. Sparkling Water
This should be the first thing you go drink when you wake up.
Sparkling water is just like normal water, but it is carbonated.
The trick behind it is that when you drink it in the morning, the carbonation in the water will help fill your stomach up, making you feel satiated.
By tricking your stomach into thinking there is food in your stomach with the carbonation, your brain will be signaled to stop producing hunger hormones, and you can effectively crush any morning cravings you might have in the morning.
2. Black Coffee
Black Coffee is a tried and true method of suppressing your appetite.
Where most people screw up is they will add sugar and other calorie dense additives to their coffees to make it taste delicious, but ultimately they just end up with a sugar dense concoction with more calories in it than a hamburger from McDonalds.
This defeats the whole purpose of it.
What you want to do is wait until you start feeling hungry, and then go make yourself a cup of black coffee sweetened with Stevia.
Stevia is an all-natural sugar replacement.
It tastes exactly like regular sugar, but it has 0 calories in it, and it doesn’t induce an insulin spike in the body.
This will not only prevent you from getting hungrier (insulin spikes will make you even more hungry), but it will also prevent your body from shifting from fat-burning mode to fat-storing mode (your body cannot burn fat while insulin is spiked).
3. Sugar Free Monster Energy Drinks
I arguably have a slight Monster addiction.
I love the taste of them, and they are essentially zero calorie drinks. There is no more than 10 calories in even the most calorie dense sugar-free Monster flavor. They range between 0-10 calories per can depending on the flavor.
I like these so much not only because they’re very portable and easy to bring on the go, but they taste delicious, and they have caffeine in it which gives me a good energy boost in an energy deprived state caused by eating in a calorie deficit.
The caffeine also helps suppress your appetite.
These are my two favorite flavors:
Ephedrine is one of the greatest fat-burning compounds ever.
Not only is it a great energy booster and pre-workout supplement, but also it suppresses appetite even more than caffeine does in my opinion.
Occasionally I will pop three 8mg pills to kill my appetite, or just give me the kick in the ass I need when I’m feeling run down.
Ephedrine is illegal in some countries; luckily here in Canada you can still buy it right over the counter at local supplement stores.
5. Sugar Free Jello
This is possibly one of the best-kept secrets in your local grocery store.
Sugar free Jello tastes like any sugary desert would, but it literally has no carbs or sugar in it at all, and it has only 10 calories for a quarter pack of it.
Typically, I will make 2 full packages of this stuff at a time in a glass tray, and then once it has settled in my fridge overnight I will eat half of the tray (1 full package) in a sitting the next day.
Even if you were having a brutal craving and “binged” on 2 full packages of this stuff, I can 99% guarantee by the end of the 2 packages you will be full and satisfied.
2 full packages are only a whopping 80 calories.
This stuff makes sticking to a diet much easier, and anytime I get a sugar craving I’ll just go have a bowl of this.
6. Walden Farms Sauces, Dressings, Syrups, Condiments, Spreads & Dips
Ahhh Walden Farms.
Many diets good ol’ Walden and his Farm have gotten me through.
Walden Farms makes such a vast array of delicious products it’s honestly pretty unbelievable.
Even more unbelievable is that they still taste decent and they’re 0 calorie.
Granted, a lot of the products are hit or miss, but the trick is finding all the “hits” and loading up on them.
I’ll show you guys some of my favorite “hits” that are guaranteed to spice up your diet.
You Can Buy Walden Farms Sauces, Dressings, Syrups, Condiments, Spreads & Dips Here:
7. Diet Soda
Nothing really needs to be said about diet soda. It’s delicious, tastes identical to the sugar dense version, and kills cravings.
My favorites are coke zero, and diet orange crush.
Recently I’ve actually started adding calorie free vanilla syrup to my coke zero too and making my own concoctions of diet vanilla coke.
8. Sugar Free Gum
Sugar free gum is an awesome way to stave off cravings. With less than 5 calories per piece, sugar free gum will not only keep your mouth busy, but it actually promotes satiety in the body and will prevent you from getting as hungry.
Finding a decent tasting BCAA can be a pivotal move in sticking to a diet.
BCAA’s are calorie free, and are more satiating than normal water would be.
Not only that, but they help in the muscle recovery process.
Sometimes to kill a craving I will blend up some ice, throw in a couple scoops of BCAA’s, and then put in some water and blend up my own homemade BCAA slushie.
Unfortunately, a lot of BCAA’s taste like ass and mix terribly.
So, make sure when you get BCAA’s you check the reviews and you get something like Xtend. It mixes great, tastes good, and comes from arguably the most credible company for their BCAA products (Scivation).
Having lots of leafy greens and other extremely low calorie veggies will allow you to eat a higher quantity of food, without pushing your calorie intake past your daily goals.
When I get really hungry, I like to incorporate a giant salad into my daily meal plan as it is literally no more than 50 calories for a giant bowl of lettuce, spinach, and other greens and veggies, but it gets me really full and prevents me from getting cravings.
I also like to add some of the Walden Farms dressings to it to make it actually taste good instead of bland and boring.
11. PB2 Peanut Butter
With 85% less fat than normal Peanut Butter, PB2 Peanut Butter is an all-natural powdered Peanut Butter product deriving from peanuts that are first slow roasted, and then pressed to remove the fat and oil.
You simply add some water to a couple tablespoons of the powder, and then stir it and in seconds it will change into good old peanut butter.
The consistency, look, texture, and taste are all identical to normal Peanut Butter.
The end result is a Peanut Butter that tastes just as fantastic as regular Peanut Butter, but has WAY less calories.
Sometimes if I need something quick and small because I’m just too damn hungry, I will have a tablespoon or two of PB2, and then I’m good to go for another couple hours.
PB2 is also packed with much more protein than regular Peanut Butter is, which is another awesome feature it has.
1 Tablespoon of regular Peanut Butter typically has about 100 calories and 1-2 grams of protein.
2 Tablespoons of PB2 has only 45 calories and 5 grams of protein.
12. Shirataki Noodles
Shirataki Noodles look and taste exactly like normal pasta noodles do.
However, they aren’t carb dense whatsoever, and as a result, they have almost no calories at all.
In fact, the brand I personally use has 0 calories in an entire package.
This is a fantastic diet food because you can literally cook 2 whole packages of these noodles and have a giant chicken and noodle bowl that will fill you up with less than 250 calories!
With normal pasta noodles, that meal would’ve easily topped out 700+ calories.
I like to add some sugar free Teriyaki sauce or low calorie Guy’s BBQ sauce to the bowl for some added flavor.
It is truly delicious, and very low calorie. Dieting is a breeze with these noodles.
13. Guy’s Sugar Free Barbeque Sauce
This is bar none the best low calorie BBQ sauce on earth.
Per tablespoon there are only 5 calories, 1 gram of carbs, and 0 grams of sugar.
The main issue most sugar-free BBQ sauces have is that the consistency is too thin.
They run like water.
Guy’s BBQ sauce is thicker though, much more similar to the actual consistency of real BBQ sauce, and it tastes EXACTLY the same.
I’m not exaggerating, you will start putting this on all your meat as soon as you try it, and it is absolutely phenomenal for dieting.
14. Seal Sama, Sugar Free Teriyaki Sauce
This list wouldn’t be complete without adding this stuff. This sugar-free Teriyaki sauce has only 5 calories per tablespoon, 1 gram of carbs, and 0 grams of sugar.
It tastes identical to real Teriyaki sauce, but it is quite a bit thinner.
Honestly though, I don’t even care, this is by far the best sugar-free teriyaki sauce I’ve tried, and I drench my chicken, rice and Shirataki Noodles in it all the time.
For whatever reason, Amazon's price is obscenely expensive for it though, so I recommend you shop around a bit for this one. I've seen it listed as low as $8 in some online stores.
*Update* Found it for a decent price finally.
