Top 10 Best Summer Fragrances For Men 2017

Best Colognes for Men for Summer 2017

Honorable Mentions:

L'homme – Yves Saint Laurent:

http://amzn.to/2fAwB0S

This is the most “pleasant” smelling male fragrance. It is almost unisex smelling it is so pleasant, but it has just enough masculinity to be obviously a men’s fragrance.

It is a softer scent, playful and just makes you happy when you smell it.

It has the same effect when women smell it on you, and it is the ultimate fragrance choice for daytime staying at home situations.

Basically, any indoor situation where you need something safe that just smells great, this is a very solid choice.

It is my go to “close encounters” day time indoor fragrance at all times of the year.

The only reason it didn’t make the top 10 is because I’ve realized over the years that the performance of this fragrance is fairly weak.

I really have to apply a lot of it to get the longevity and projection I want out of it, and even then it can be underwhelming in the performance category.

It smells absolutely amazing though and is a solid fragrance to have in your collection.

Abercrombie & Fitch Fierce:

http://amzn.to/2vOcvqh

If you are a millennial, you probably remember this one from high school, or from the times you used to shop at A&F when you had no idea how to dress yourself.

This fragrance pure musk, but it isn’t a bad choice to have in your summer time arsenal.

This fragrance comes off as very youthful, playful, and “young sexy.”

I don’t think that older men would be able to wear this scent; it is tailored more towards the teenage/very young adult crowd.

I held off from buying this scent for a while, but I ended up pulling the trigger last year and was very pleased with the amount of compliments it has brought in.

I find that this scent is best for school and dates.

#10 Azzaro Chrome:

http://amzn.to/2vO376f

I never bought a 100ml bottle of this because I honestly just have too many aquatics, and they tend to overlap to a significant degree in the summer.

You only need to many solid aquatic fragrances in my opinion.

This one is definitely one of the best ones out there, and I would have bought it if I didn’t already have 5 other fragrances that greatly overlap with this one.

The standout top notes are rosemary, pineapple, neroli, bergamot and lemon; and the base notes are sandalwood, tonka bean, musk, oakmoss, cedar, brazilian rosewood and cardamom.

This is definitely a mass pleaser in my opinion, and you’ll be hard-pressed to find a girl who doesn’t at least think it’s decent.

This is a very safe compliment getter, and falls right into that summer aquatic category.

I feel as though a lot of aquatics tend to be perceived as “young” but I think that most all age groups can wear this one.

#9 Nautica Voyage:

http://amzn.to/2wROv2q

Nautica Voyage is a fantastic VERY cheap summer fragrance.

It is a great everyday scent that can be used for anything essentially, and is universally pleasing to all who smell it.

It is very affordable, with 100 ml only costing around $15.

I ALWAYS have a bottle of this in my collection, and if I’m running out I will order another one without question.

It is a perfect scent for summer time, the gym (it’s very fresh), or the daytime in general.

It has mass appeal with women and it is a very, very safe choice.

I have yet to encounter one single person who doesn’t like this fragrance a lot.

The performance is good, it is versatile as hell, it is insanely cheap, and all women love it.

You can’t go wrong with Nautica Voyage.

#8 Versace Pour Homme:

http://amzn.to/2vrMFaB

This scent is fresh and clean. It fits right into the summer category very nicely and is absolutely an aquatic.

It isn’t a panty dropper by any means (no summer fragrances really are in my opinion), but it definitely gets the job done and you will definitely draw a lot of positive attention with this one.

This scent is quite versatile and can be used everyday and in almost all situations in the summer.

The notable notes are lemon, bergamot, tonka bean, musk and amber.

This is another very safe choice for summer.

#7 Perry Ellis 360 Red:

http://amzn.to/2vrSNjn

Another very inexpensive fragrance, 360 Red smells exactly the same as Acqua Di Gio, but it performs much better with greater projection and longevity.

So it not only is much cheaper, but it performs better as well.

This scent is super versatile and can be used at work, at school, running errands, on dates, with family, out with friends, it literally is fantastic for almost every single situation.

The most noticeable notes from this fragrance are the Lime, Cinnamon and Bergamot, and it is very strong so be careful to not over apply it.

This fragrance might be a tad overpowering for close encounter indoor date situations, but for literally anything out of the house it is a must have.

With the price, performance, and how good the fragrance simply is, I think 360 Red is an essential for the summer.

#6 Versace Man Eau Fraiche:

http://amzn.to/2wD6mLj

This might be the freshest smelling fragrance on the entire list, and it couldn’t be more fitting for summer.

The most notable notes include lemon, bergamot, rosewood, rose, cedar, amber, musk, and saffron.

The opening is very fresh, and it gives off a very clean, sporty, masculine vibe.

It’s almost like the ideal way a guy would smell coming out of the shower to a woman is the best way I can describe it.

It is not a projection monster, so over applying won’t result in you being insanely cloying, and I think it could be reserved as a go-to freshen up scent for situations like the office, summer social gatherings, summer dates, gym, etc.

It won’t be as much of a go-to during the fall and winter months (if at all) but in the summer this one is right there in the mix of the top summer fragrances in my opinion.

This fragrance definitely holds its’ own in the aquatic category, and I think it is one of the best summer fragrances by far.
If you don’t already have a summer aquatic, this one could easily fill that position and leave you very satisfied.

#5 Jean Paul Gaultier Ultra Male (for clubbing):

http://amzn.to/2wRQ1Sg

This one isn’t a “summer” fragrance per say, but as long as you don’t wear it in the high summer heat, I think this is definitely a killer panty dropper for clubbing and cooler summer nights.

You can’t really show up to the club dripping in an aquatic, so I tend to use this for my clubbing fragrance in the summer, and it works fantastically.

There are some citrus notes in the opening, with the dry down resulting in some very obvious black vanilla, amber, cedar, and patchouli.

This fragrance IS absolutely a panty dropper, which is exactly why I had to include it in this list, because a lot of the heavy hitters in the winter just don’t work as well in the summer, and I find this one fairly versatile as long as you don’t wear it when it’s blistering hot out.

This fragrance will have women swooning, guaranteed.

The projection and longevity are phenomenal, and the scent is very sweet and masculine.

It almost smells edible to me, kind of like Armani Code Profumo, but honestly this has easily become my favorite clubbing fragrance in the past year.

The very sweet opening can be a turn off for some frag-heads, but women go nuts for this fragrance, I promise you that.

This fragrance is definitely blind buy worthy.

#4 Paco Rabanne Invictus Aqua (limited edition):

http://amzn.to/2wRHleM

This fragrance is a limited edition, meaning it won’t be produced in the foreseeable future, and could become near impossible to find eventually.

This fragrance gives off a very fun vibe, and if you have ever smelled the original Invictus (which in itself garners a lot of compliments), this one is an improved version of that with an aquatic twist in my opinion.

This can definitely be cloying if over sprayed due to the sweetness, so don’t overdo it.

The longevity and projection are very solid so you don’t need to douse yourself in it anyways.

This fragrance could be used for summer parties and clubbing as well, and it seems to fall more into the younger category, not only in who should wear it, but in which range of women respond well to it.

It comes off as youthful, fun, sexy, and definitely appeals to a younger demographic of women.

It isn’t immature necessarily, but you will notice that typically younger women respond better to this one (at least I did).

This is absolutely a compliment monster.

Most frag-heads despise Invictus and Invictus Aqua almost as much (or more so) than Sauvage, but if you simply want something that kills it with the ladies, this one will more than suffice in the summer.

It is almost like a fusion of the original Invictus with Nautica Voyage.

This fragrance performs well in the high summer heat so don’t worry about that, just don’t over spray it like I mentioned already.

#3 Creed Aventus and Reyane Tradition Insurrection Pure II:

http://amzn.to/2pj58QZ

http://amzn.to/2mhyIpL

I had to include Creed Aventus because of its’ uniqueness, versatility in the summer, and its’ ability to get compliments in pretty much any scenario.

It provides a very nice alternative to most standard summer fragrance choices as well in that it isn’t aquatic and just fresh smelling.

The scent opens with a very apparent pineapple note, and then it dries down into a woody, creamy, and smoky kind of scent.

You will occasionally find some women who aren’t as completely enamored with this scent as you would expect from Aventus, so it isn’t necessarily the safest bet always, but I promise you, there are A LOT of women who do have a great appreciation for this fragrance DNA, and it excels in the summer.

While any age group can wear this fragrance, I almost feel that it is more of a mature scent, and typically the younger girls who drop their panties for things like Invictus Aqua will not like this scent.

However, more mature women definitely go nuts for this fragrance, and I think if you are in your late twenties or above, this is a must have to get at some point.

If you are strapped for funds and can’t afford Aventus, then by all means do not get it.

It is one of the most outrageously expensive fragrances out there, but many guys feel it is worth every penny.

If you really want Aventus but simply can’t afford it, I compel you to try out Reyane Tradition Insurrection Pure II.

Insurrection Pure II is essentially just an Aventus clone, smelling nearly 100% identical, for a minuscule fraction of the retail price.

Only a fragrance expert would be able to tell the difference if you blindfolded them to be honest.

Aventus does outperform Insurrection Pure II in terms of longevity and projection, but honestly for such a cheap price, you can just reapply Insurrection much more and carry a travel atomizer around with you.

This fragrance only retails for around $25-30, meanwhile Aventus is commonly sold for upwards of $300 per bottle.

Whether you can afford Aventus, or you can only afford Insurrection Pure II, I think it’s a no brainer to have one or the other in your arsenal.

#2 Versace Dylan Blue:

http://amzn.to/2vvyCzi

This fragrance is almost like a woody aquatic, and you will know what I mean when you smell it.

There are polarizing aquatics like Nautica Voyage (which you should have at least one of for summer in my opinion), while this one is distinctively woody.

The main notes are Bergamot, Ambroxan, and Patchouli.

The performance of this is a fair bit better than the other Versace fragrances on this list, and for a semi-fresh fragrance, its’ projection and longevity is pretty good.

I would typically get 7-8 hours of good wear out of this, which is very solid considering my very dry skin.

This one is definitely a compliment getter and you would be hard-pressed to find someone who doesn’t like this fragrance.

This fragrance isn’t a panty dropper, but like I mentioned earlier, it is very uncommon to have a fresh fragrance that a girl falls in love with at the first whiff.

Instead, what you can expect are LOTS of consistent compliments, but not as often that “oh my god” reaction that you would get with something like D&G The One (not a traditional summer fragrance, but it could be used for dates still for sure in the summer).

#1 Dior Sauvage:

http://amzn.to/2bICLpl

The fragrance the community loves to hate.

Dior Sauvage is the number one summer fragrance simply because women haven’t explicitly given me more compliments for anything else so far (for summer fragrances).

It is very fresh and clean smelling, but many guys will claim it smells extremely synthetic (including myself).

It is not aquatic whatsoever, it is simply fresh.

I’m not going to say this is my personal favorite for the title of “the best summer fragrance,” because I do like a few other fragrances on this list more myself, but it definitely deserves its’ placement in regards to womens’ reactions to it.

It is a beast in the performance and longevity category, and it picks up tons of attention as it lingers in the air.

When you are out and about in the summer heat, you will get TONS of compliments from women with it.

This one is definitely blind buy worthy because even if you go to the store to smell it first, you will probably not like it very much.

Women think it’s incredibly sexy, it pulls in a stupid amount of compliments, it is perfect for the summer, and it is super safe.

You can’t get much better than that, especially if you are a guy who just wants to get a one size fits all kind of scent that will absolutely kill it in almost all situations.
