Trenbolone Use In The Bodybuilding Community
Trenbolone (commonly referred to as simply “Tren”) is an anabolic androgenic steroid (AAS) that was popularized in the 90's, and has become an increasingly abused drug over the years.
Over the years, Trenbolone has evolved into such a commonly used hormone that it is seen by many as “tried and true,” and a necessity to build an amazing physique.
This drug is now seen as a staple in a bodybuilders' regimen, and is even incorporated into year round use by some.
I'm shocked at how heavily this drug has become abused.
Especially by guys who frankly do not need it.
The Trenbolone dosage that I see guys my size using, or even guys smaller than me using is nonsensical.
Trenbolone Dosage For Cattle
If you take a look at the official product page for Finaplix-H, which are the original pellets of Trenbolone still used to this day in cattle; the dosage given to a giant cow to bulk it up is 200 mg.
That's one 200 mg Trenbolone implant for one cow.
Somehow, we've ended up with 200 pound bodybuilders (who are humans, not cows) that are using 400 – 600 mg of Tren per week on their first cycle.
It's just complete nonsense.
This drug has never been clinically tested on humans before.
Even the data on animal models is not promising in terms of its side effect profile whatsoever.
Trenbolone Dosage For Humans (Parabolan)
Pharmaceutical grade Trenbolone used to be produced for human use by Negma Laboratories under the brand name Parabolan, but there were no published human trials.
It was pulled from the market in 1997 and is no longer approved for human use.
The Trenbolone dosage used in a clinical setting for humans was purportedly three 76 mg Parabolan ampules per month.
This equates to approximately 50 mg of active hormone per ampule after cleaving off the ester.
This had a front load period of three Parabolan ampules over the first 15 days, followed by a maintenance phase of one Parabolan ampule every 10 days thereafter.
The Trenbolone Dosage Protocol In Humans Via Negma Laboratories (Parabolan)
- 114 mg Trenbolone Hexahydrobenzylcarbonate (75 mg active hormone) per week for the first two weeks
- 76 mg Trenbolone Hexahydrobenzylcarbonate (50 mg active hormone) per 10 days thereafter
Opt For Safer Alternatives Than Tren
There are far safer alternatives should you go the performance-enhancement route that would yield formidable muscle gain.
Sure, you're not going to get the same recomposition benefits pre-contest, and perhaps you can justify its place in the final stretch of extreme contest preparation circumstances.
I can see why guys would want to implement it, and I've had my fair share of using it before when I was a lot more oblivious to its potential adverse effects (years ago).
The main issue stems not from its acute use pre-contest, rather, from the dosages and durations of time it is being used in nowadays for nearly every cycle.
It is literally the staple drug some guys are using in every single cycle they run nowadays, and the dosages are absurd.
Of all the steroids you could abuse, Trenbolone is the one you want to stay away from the most.
Minimize your use of it is my advice.
You don't need the same dose a cow uses to bulk.
I see guys who are barely my size using 400 mg of Trenbolone in the off-season to try and gain mass thinking it is a conservative dosage.
There are even guys who jump to Tren before even trying hormones that have dozens of human trials.
And worse, the guys who jump to Tren before even using bioidentical hormones.
Buddy, it's your first or second cycle and you're using Tren?
Don't throw the kitchen sink at yourself when it is completely unnecessary.
Look Into Bioidentical Hormones Instead
At least look at bioidentical hormones first, and things that you can predict with great accuracy what the side effect profile is going to be.
Make sure it has clinical data on humans and your body actually understands what it is.
Using Trenbolone intended for cattle at dosages higher than what is given to the cows is not a sustainable practice.
We have no idea what this drug is going to do in the human body, so it would be wise to avoid it as much as possible.
Does Trenbolone Cause Alzheimer's?
It's not a coincidence that bodybuilders get more mental instability issues on Tren as opposed to other drugs.
Obviously, aggression potentially comes with any androgen.
If you have an aggressive personality, increasing your androgen index is going to exacerbate it.
But Trenbolone in particular makes guys go a little crazy.
I'm sure you know what I'm talking about here.
It's not a coincidence that the animal models that had Trenbolone administered to them experienced degraded cognitive outcomes.
Male rats given Trenbolone injections had Aβ42 (amyloid-beta-42) accumulate in their brains [R].
Alzheimer's disease is believed to be caused by the accumulation of the β-Amyloid peptide.
While there has been no human trial to assess if this occurs in humans (and there probably never will be), I think it is best that we assume the worst when we see data like this.
Trenbolone As A Muscle Builder
Despite the massive hype, I don't even think Trenbolone is a great muscle builder in the offseason.
There are hormones that work just as well, if not much better than Tren in a muscle building context.
Nothing will recomp the body like Tren, but when it comes to pure lean tissue accrual, there are hormones that are just as good, if not superior in that context.
There are also hormones that will produce less dramatic results in the short-term, but are far more sustainable to use and have significant amounts of clinical data.
It makes sense to me how Tren usage could be justified to some for acute usage pre-contest, but even then the dosage still needs to be more reasonable.
Trenbolone should be reserved as a hardcore competition-only drug in my opinion.
Most of the guys reading this article aren't competing in intense high-level bodybuilding competitions.
Even for your first regional show, you don't need to be using a cattle drug.
Trust me, I used to think that, “Oh, everyone is on Tren. It's the end-all-be-all. It's the godsend of bodybuilding.”
Honestly, it's really not.
It produces great physiques, but so do other drugs that are likely much safer, and at least have human data we can refer to so we know what we are getting ourselves into.
There is no steroid that is safe, all androgens will increase cardiovascular disease risk in a dose-dependent manner, but the least we can do is stick to compounds we know won't give us completely avoidable diseases down the line.
I would just advise you guys to be very cautious about your use of it.
I see guys reporting their cycles on social media and talking about using a Trenbolone dosage higher than what is administered to cattle when they're 190 pounds on stage.
They could have gotten away with much less, or even avoided Tren entirely, and still looked exactly the same.
Final Thoughts On Trenbolone
Through my experience with Tren, I would advise you to be very cautious with its use, especially when you actually look into the clinical data on it.
Some are shocked to see that this isn't a drug that's had any studies on humans.
There are a lot of guys out there who think that just because this hormone has been used in the bodybuilding community for so long now and was previously prescribed for musculoskeletal degenerative diseases that it must have copious amounts of safety data.
This couldn't be further from the truth.
There's more human data on most research chemicals that most guys scoff at then there is on Trenbolone, or even a myriad of other steroids commonly abused in the bodybuilding community.
There are a lot of drugs that don't really make sense why they're even in the bodybuilding world to begin with (*cough* EQ *cough*), but I will save that for another post.
If you are deadset on using Tren no matter what anybody says or what you read, just keep in mind that a little goes a long way, and you very likely don't need to be using a Trenbolone dosage greatly exceeding what is being administered to cattle.
